Colon Cancer
Back in high school, my grandfather was diagnosed with late stage colon cancer. It was his first admission and yet, we didn’t even had an idea he had this disease, neither do him. It was explained to us by his physician that usually, patients with this disease is diagnosed with an advance stage of this if not diagnosed early. Unfortunately, after several treatments and hospital admissions, the physician straightforwardly told my mom and her siblings, my grandfather will not make it.
Today, colon cancer is been the talk of the country since our former president Cory Aquino was recently diagnosed with it.
As prophylaxis, we should have an annual check up, especially with fecal occult blood test, colonoscopy and digital rectal exam.
Consult your physician if you happen to observe changes in your bowel habit, may it be episodes of diarrhea or constipation and changes in stool consistency and bloody stool.
